Equipment + props.
To create a professional piece that is appealing to the eye it is important that we use the appropriate pieces of equipment and carefully considered props to suit the piece.
Below is a list of equipment we will use during the production stage:
Camera:
- DLSR Cannon 600D
- Tripod
- Steady-Cam Handheld
- SD Card
Lighting:
- LED YongNuo Light Kits
- UV Colour Filters
- Light reflectors
Audio:
- H2 Zoom Recorder
- Rode Ridle Mic
- Rode Boom pole
Software:
- Adobe Premier Pro
- Adobe Photoshop
- Audacity
- Microsoft Office Publisher
We used a range of props when filming fort the piece, which includes all band equipment:
Narrative:
- Apples; these are the centre-piece of our project, they act as a metaphor for drug use. We will have to buy many of these to show the effects of heavy drug abuse on our character. We chose apples as they are identifiable and have a positive image, by being colourful and healthy, which is completely different to drugs, which are obviously very negative.
- Dealer bag
Performance:
- Epiphone Dot Cherry Red
- Squier Vintage Telecaster
- Squier Jazzmaster Bass
- Ashton 5 Piece Drumkit
- Microphone and stand
- Amplifiers

It is crucial that we selected the best equipment for filming, for example, creating a hand-held shot feel would be difficult with a tripod and too shakey with just the camera so we used a steady-cam. We used the most high-tech equipment we could find to get the best quality for our piece and made sure we understood exactly how to operate it, particularly adjusting expose on the Canon 600D.
Props are important to give a sense of realism by selecting appropriate props that fit the theme of the piece and can be used effectively for their purpose.
